“ I’m interested in the natural beauty of simplicity and how it shapes the baroque universe that is life. Posthumanism is understood as a humanism that has abandoned its focus on humankind and has extended to all living beings, from the humble position of belonging to nature.
My process is deeply rooted in the value of taking time, attention, consciousness, and unconsciousness. “

BIO
(1983, Madrid, Spain) I studied graphic design and graduated in Fine Arts from the Complutense University of Madrid (2001-2008). I mainly focused on painting, printmaking, and muralism.
My career began in the digital world and programming. Still, since 2018, I have returned to traditional brush and pencil techniques. I work on any surface and discipline. I also experiment with different materials.
I spent a few years living in Mexico. There, I unconsciously immersed myself in its vivid colors. These colors were present in my work. Upon returning to Madrid, I set up my studio in the Carabanchel area, sharing synergies with other artists. After three years there, I moved to Cantabria (northern Spain), which, with its magical, nature-filled surroundings, has significantly inspired me.
My work is primarily pictorial. Drawing is very present. It gives the work a poster-like aesthetic. However, it maintains a conceptual or dreamlike foundation.
José Luis Serzo says of my work: «Neo-baroque and rabidly current. It is among other things for its allegorical tendency and taste for complexity. It includes rhetorical games, hyper-theatricality, and is both fluctuating and disproportionate. Her painting, dreamlike at times, plays an irreverent game of scales. With Calabrese’s permission, it maintains all the premises of post-modern neo-baroque. This includes the play between limit and excess, disorder and chaos, and rhythm and repetition. It features instability and metamorphosis, detail and fragment, and node and labyrinth. Complexity and dissolution are apparent. The notion of «more or less» and «I don’t know what» is also there. Distortion and perversion follow them. With a powerful yet subtle stroke, his work surprises with his mastery of generating shocking moments. These moments are heirs to the best English pop. They do not hide his taste for kitsch, illustration, or an innocent humour. His humour is also refined and ironic. His works also recreate scenes with a mysterious and extremely attractive atmosphere. Some of his characters generate stories. These stories have a certain hermeticism. They are set in a cryptic narrative typical of certain masterpieces of the history of art».
My work has been exhibited in Spain, the United Kingdom, Belgium, and France. It has also been shown in Italy, the United States, and the United Arab Emirates. Critics like Gabriel Rodriguez and Fernando Castro have written about it.

Her work is a hymn to contemplation, to reclaiming leisure as an act of transcendence. She shows us the way to return to the light of the natural, to what already is without needing to be, to the immanence of life, inexorable, beautifully futile, at the whim of creation alone.
the intention is to create a route through the city centre to enjoy the exhibition, bringing art to the street and creating a cultural route. An art gallery in the shop windows of participating businesses
Lau Rodriguez presents an ambitious project that under the title “Perentorio”, brings together painting, drawing and sculpture that are related to each other, without being clear whether the paintings, sculptures or drawings are sketches, but that undoubtedly take us to a universe of mysterious fables.
